Tom Craine headlines in July 2012

Headlining at 2nd July’s Comedy Hall show is Bath comedian Tom Craine.

Tom will be all over the BBC this summer, featuring on Russell Howard’s Good News, presenting a history documentary called Bitesize History for BBC2, and as part of the threesome Jigsaw on Russell Kane’s Live At The Electric on BBC3. His ‘From Jesus to Jayz” documentary on Glastonbury will be broadcast this summer on BBC2, and he’s also headlining Sketchorama on Radio 4.

His role in Jigsaw is getting incredible reviews, with a full sweep of 4 and 5 stars for their Edinburgh show last August. Tom has also written for Mock The Week (BBC2), Stand Up For The Week (Channel 4), The Mad Bad Ad Show (Channel 4), Chris Addison’s Show & Tell (Channel 4), The Now Show (Radio 4) and co-wrote the BBC Radio 2 sitcom The Sharp End (“a treat… with delicious tension” The Guardian), in which he starred alongside Alistair McGowan. He also played the lead in a series of shorts for Dave.

As a stand up, Tom is a regular at the major UK venues and abroad. He has supported Rhod Gilbert, Alan Carr and Russell Kane on tour and has gained rave reviews (including Observer Critic’s Choice Edinburgh 2010, Spoonfed Rising Star 2010 and The Times Top 5 Picks Edinburgh 2010).

Described as “Wise, funny, lyrical” by the Observer and “Disgustingly talented” by The Guardian, Comedy Hall is looking forward to welcoming him back to Tiverton.

Opener is Paul Ricketts, an award-winning comic who will come to us from three nights performing his own show “Kiss The Badge, Fly The Fag” at the Leicester Square Theatre, London. The Stage described his as “weird and wonderful… Ricketts should be given his own TV show”, while Fringe Guru suggestion of him, “A black comic who is engaged with black history and politic is still too rare a thing on the comedy circuit.”

Compere will be Craig Campbell, who has been selling out all over the world, as well as extending his own UK tour. Craig will be familiar to TV viewers for his appearance on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow as well as Russell Howard’s Good News.

He will come back to Tiverton following a gig in Aberdeen the day before, so expect some Scottish flavour to his ramblings.
